to cooks, dish machine operators, shipment receivers and employees who handle and prepare food in restaurants and other food service establishments. ServSafe Food Handler is the second level of the Nebraska Restaurant Association’s Food Safety First Program. The first level is the ServSafe training program for restaurant owners and food service managers.

Extension Educators, Andrea Nisley and Nancy Frecks will teach the ServSafe Food Handler course sponsored by the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Extension.

The golf tournament in Cozad in conjunction with Cozad’s Bands Brews & BBQ’s. The 2nd annual tournament will be a four person scramble, $50 per person, $200 per team with registration at 8 AM and a shotgun start at 10 AM.

Omaha Chaser tickets will be given away to some lucky recipients as door prizes. Bosselman’s and National Wild Turkey Federation have provided door prizes as well.

Lights of Hope In Honor of Lost Lives due to Substance Abuse

Lights of Hope event is a candlelight vigil to honor those who have lost their life due to a substance abuse overdose to be held Sunday, September 15 from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. at Harmon Park Sonotorium Stage. “We will be lighting the night in honor of loved ones who have lost their lives due to substance abuse and providing resources for those still struggling with substance abuse.” Stated Tammy Fiala, event coordinator and Consumer Specialist for Region 3 Behavioral Health Services.
The event will host keynote speaker, Dr. Christina Chasek who is an Assistant Professor at the University of Nebraska at Kearney in the Department of Counseling and School Psychology and the Director of BHECN-Kearney. Family member survivors and people in recovery will be reading a poem and performing music. Attendees will have an opportunity to decorate a luminary bag to be placed on the stage during the event. Light refreshments will be provided.
Partners working together to bring this event to Kearney area for the first time include Region 3 Behavioral Health Services, Buffalo County Community Partners, Goodwill Industries, Central Nebraska Center of Alcoholism and Addiction, South Central Behavioral Services, Insight Counseling and Recovery, LLC. Nebr Attorney General’s Office hosting Mobile Office Hours – Holdrege @ Phelps Co Senior Center

On Thursday, September 19th, 2019, the Nebraska Attorney General’s Office will be hosting Mobile Office hours in Holdrege inside the Phelps County Senior Center (416 Garfield Street) from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Attorney General Peterson will be spending time in the community with local civic groups and local officials.

During Mobile Office hours, representatives from both the Consumer Protection Division and Constituent Services will be on hand to personally meet citizens interested in submitting concerns to the Attorney General’s Office. Citizens will also have the opportunity to learn how to protect themselves from identity theft, guard against scams, and rid themselves of unwanted calls. Many educational resources will be made available to interested constituents.

FFA Labor Auction & Quilt Raffle – Cambridge

The Cambridge FFA chapter will be having their labor auction at the Cambridge football field. They are also selling raffle tickets $5 for 1 ticket or $10 for 3 tickets. They will have the drawing the night of the auction, you don’t have to be present to win the FFA themed quilt but you do have to be present to purchase an FFA members time. These events help fund the chapters events for the year. The Cambridge FFA appreciates your support!
