ATV Aware
All-terrain vehicles (ATVs) are useful modes of transportation on farms and ranches.
However, there are unique safety hazards associated with their use.
Susan Harris-Broomfield, Nebraska Extension Rural Health and Safety Educator, says that the Nebraska Department of Health & Human Services reported 578 hospital emergency room visits due to ATV incidents in 2016. Therefore, responding to these
alarming ATV accident statistics, Nebraska Extension linked with the Nebraska Safety Center, CHI Health Good Samaritan – Kearney, and Central States Center for Agricultural safety to provide a free “ATV Aware” travelling 16’ x 6’ safety demonstration trailer.
Susan plans to provide this custom-made ATV simulator for the Gosper County Fair on Friday, July 27th from 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm. This hands-on simulator will allow riders of all ages to ride and learn proper riding techniques. Using an electric joy-stick, Susan will mimic the actual riding experience along with learning safe riding behaviors & laws.
Come to the Fair and enjoy this free ATV safety experience!!!
More information regarding agricultural safety programs are available through our Nebraska Extension offices.

Wireless World, a Verizon Authorized Retailer, will be giving out free backpacks filled with school supplies on Saturday, Aug. 11 from 10am to noon.
This is the 1st year of our annual ‘Backpack to School’ program. One of our main core values is to serve the community and we have several initiatives both locally and nationally that we participate in throughout the year.
The Backpack to School program is one that involves employees, customers and our vendor partners. We have initiated a company-wide employee program to donate backpacks as well as donations from our loyal guests in the stores. Each backpack that is donated at one of our 44 locations will be distributed to children in that local area.
The cost for school supplies increases more and more each year, Wireless World would like to help make it a little easier for families to afford these essential supplies and ensure students start off the school year prepared and confident!
A child must be present to claim their free backpack, no purchase is necessary to receive a backpack. Limited number available, while supplies last.
Registration Fee $20.00 per player
