The Cowles American Legion is holding our 7th Annual Tank Float on the Republican River.  Proceeds from the event will help support youth programs and scholarships.

$10.00 per person – The start of the event is located 4 miles west of Red Cloud and 1/2 miles South, and the finish line is under the Republican River Bridge just south of Red Cloud.  Registration will begin at 10:00am and lunch will be served.

Gates open at 5pm in downtown Cozad

Grill Master BBQ from 5pm until Gone

Heather Wellman performs from 5pm to 7pm

James Lee Band performs from 7:30pm to 10pm

Blackhawk is on at 10:30pm until 1am

Governor Pete Ricketts and Department of Transportation (DOT) Director Kyle Schneweis will continue to highlight the agency’s FY 2019-2024 Program Book highlighting a record $600M investment in Nebraska’s infrastructure system in FY 2019.  The annual DOT Program Book details upcoming infrastructure projects in Nebraska over the next five years.  During the visits, Governor Ricketts and Director Schneweis will discuss regional projects from the DOT Program Book and how investments in infrastructure are helping grow our communities.

Join Wilson Public Library on Friday, July 20 at sundown (approximately 9:00pm) for a NASA@ MyLibrary premier event: a star party! Come through the main gates at the Cozad High School football field to sign in and get a glow necklace, then wander to the north end of the field and see some amazing celestial offerings. A star party is a gathering of amateur astronomers for the purpose of observing the sky. Our event will be led by the Platte Valley Astronomical Observers, amateur astronomers from Nebraska and Solar Ambassadors for NASA. Large telescopes will be available for the public to view celestial objects closer than with the naked eye.  Feel free to bring your own telescopes, smart devices with sky watching apps, or binoculars.
