The 2019 4-H Clothing Contest is slated for Tuesday, July 9th, at the Cozad High School, according to Andrea Nisley, UNL Extension Educator.
During the contest, 4-H’ers will not only model for the judge, but they will also have their garments judged for construction, neatness, suitable fabric and trimmings, and design and color by a process called Interview Judging. In the interview process, the judge and the 4-H’er examine the garment together. This will help the judge take the capabilities of the individual into consideration on making her decisions. In the interview-judging process, the teaching becomes direct.
Pre-registrations are due June 19th in the Extension Office.

Help a local student save lives this summer by giving blood on July 10, 2019
LEXINGTON, Nebraska (June 10, 2019) — The community is invited to help maintain a strong blood supply this summer by joining Lexington High School for a blood drive on July 10, 2019, from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Parkview Baptist Church, 803 W. 18th St. By helping hospital patients in need, donors can also help students earn volunteer hours and a chance to earn a scholarship through the American Red Cross Leaders Save Lives program.
Summer can be a challenging season to collect blood. Donations often decline when school is out of session and many regular donors delay giving while they vacation and take part in summer activities, but the need for blood is constant.
To make an appointment or to learn more, download the American Red Cross Blood Donor App, visit RedCrossBlood.org and enter sponsor code
or call 1-800-RED CROSS (1800-733-2767). Completion of a RapidPass® online health history questionnaire found at RedCrossBlood.org/RapidPass or on the Blood Donor App is encouraged to help speed up the donation process. A blood donor card or driver’s license or two other forms of identification are required at check-in. Individuals who are 17 years of age in most states (16 with parental consent where allowed by state law), weigh at least 110 pounds and are in generally good health may be eligible to donate blood. High school students and other donors 18 years of age and younger also have to meet certain height and weight requirements.
Bring your family to our cool, comfortable community room for evening of fun & laughs Wednesday, July 10th from 5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. An animated movie about superheroes will be shown.
