The Wilson Public Library has weekly drop in Story Time on Mondays from 5:30-6:00 pm and Fridays from 11:00-11:30 am.  Join us for a story followed by a craft or activity.  For preschool ages 3-6 with an adult. Toddler Times are Fridays from 10:15-10:45. Enjoy a story and time with other toddlers. For ages 0-2 with an adult. No registration required.

Curtis Volunteer Fire Dept Chili Cookoff – Curtis @ Curtis Comm Center

Curtis Volunteer Fire Department is having a Chili Cook-off February 23, 2019 at the Curtis Community Center. They are looking for Chili cookers to compete for cash and  prizes, so if you think your chili is the best come prove it. At 5:00 that night they will have a free will donation for the public to come in and try all the chili from the competitors. They are raffling a Green Mountain WIFI Pellet Grill that night as part of there annual fund raiser. Please come support the local fire department in their annual fund raiser.

Rodeo Queen Clinic – Miss Rodeo Nebraska – North Platte EVENT CANCELLED @ North Platte Comm College South Campus

The registration deadline is Feb. 15, and entries will be limited to 12 participants.

The clinic is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Feb. 23 at the North Platte Community College South Campus, 601 W. State Farm Rd., in North Platte. The theme is, “So You Want to Become a Rodeo Queen?”

Participants will learn the ins and outs of rodeo queen contests by competing in a mock pageant. Each will receive one-on-one assistance with the help of a personal mentor.

The clinic is recommended for those ages 14 and older. The cost is $200, which includes lunch.  There will also be an informational session for mothers, chaperones and pageant coaches. The cost of that is $10, including a lunch.

Guided Barn Quilt Bus Tour – Cozad EVENT CANCELLED DUE TO IMPENDING WEATHER

Learn prescribed fire basics at workshops across Nebraska – Sumner
Feb 28 @ 9:00 am – 4:00 pm

Learn the basics of safe, effective burning when Pheasants Forever and the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission host prescribed burn training workshops across the state early in 2019.

These workshops will provide guidance and instruction for completing safe and effective prescribed fires. Landowners, resource professionals, volunteer fire departments and other interested persons are invited to attend. No prior burn experience is required. Most workshops are scheduled for 9 a.m.-4 p.m.
